The Label

Decades of Sound Beyond Boundaries

Across two decades, Germany’s independent label 4MPO has brought together downtempo, electronica, lounge and jazz. Its catalogue connects atmospheric electronic production with expressive musicianship, moving between intimate listening, sunlit grooves and deeper club sounds. From its formative releases in the mid-2000s to its continuing output today, melody, atmosphere and individuality remain central to its identity.

Naoki Kenji’s Versatile (2006) captures that spirit: Japanese influences, intricate electronics, jazz textures and soulful songwriting flowing naturally together. Alongside Less Ordinary, Shiokaze and Akatombo, it forms a central thread in the label’s story. Naoki Kenji’s official catalogue →

  • Aandra

  • Planet Lounge

Electric Bolero and Cascade embody the catalogue’s connection between electronic grooves and instrumental expression. Released in 2014, Cascade is a natural starting point for exploring this side of 4MPO.

  • Angela Puxi

Her expressive saxophone brings jazz, funk and club influences into the label’s world. Badapapapaa (2015), Badapapapaa Reloaded (2016) and Isle of Fire (2020) trace that distinctive musical voice.

The catalogue also makes room for artists such as Vune and S.D.J., whose releases Celfaire, Straumst and Dusty Planet broaden its range. More recent releases, including Climatic’s Remixed and Naoki Kenji’s Brave New World, carry that exploration into the present. Across generations of recordings, 4MPO invites listeners to follow a mood, discover an artist and stay for the whole album.
